Background Problem Set: Exit interviews mention lack of “I’m not getting enough recognition!” as a driving force behind retention issues. The NACO has directed that an electronic, biweekly publication be established for the purposes of putting a “bright spotlight” on all CGAux qualifications, focusing on the member level, not just National.

IT opportunities:

• Developing, from AUXDATA2 resources, a list of top performers in each qual, e.g., top-10 VEs etc
• Developing statistical reports for the PA/PB members regarding a profile of the qual “under the spotlight”
• How many shipmates hold the qual in good standing?
• How many [hours, events] were conducted for the members of the qual in the past 12 months
• How much money did these members NOT ask for reimbursement from active-duty, i.e., they gave time, effort and treasure in supporting the USCG and the USA

Skills and Qualifications Required, in order of preference:

• Demonstrated capability in plumbing AUXDATA2 for such data as noted above.

OPERATION SPOTLIGHT

(A new Auxiliary initiative to assist with member recruitment and retention)

• PA or PB Specialist- East
• PA or PB Specialist- MidWest
• PA or PB Specialist-West

Responsibilities:

• Duties to be assigned in developing and disseminating Operation Spotlight.
• Create content (interview and create stories) as assigned of individual Auxiliarists to be highlighted in social media and publications as part of the mission of Operation Spotlight- Member Recruitment and Retention

Skills and Qualifications Required:

• PA and/or PB Auxiliary experience
• Excellent skills in creating content (stories about Auxiliarists and their service).
• Excellent communications skills (writing).

OPERATION SPOTLIGHT

Responsibilities:

• Duties to be assigned in developing and disseminating Operation Spotlight.
• Establish working relationship with DSO-PA’s in Assigned Aux Districts.
• With District assistance, find Auxiliarists that have great story to “spotlight” for their volunteer service.
• Working with Operation Spotlight team, coordinate interviews and photo ops with selected Aux members.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to establish a network of assigned DSO-Pas and maintain communications to find and spotlight selected Auxiliarists.
• PA or PB experience- excellent communications skills.
• Excellent organization skills.
• Excellent team-oriented management style.
