The International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF)announced the latest developments in the planning of their International Mass Rescue Conference, to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, on
1-3 June 2014.
This is the third of the IMRF's international conferences on maritime mass rescue operations, known as the 'Gothenburg series'. The conferences are hosted by the Swedish Sea Rescue Society.
Major incidents severely test responders' capabilities; even more so when rescue or relief efforts involve operations on the water.
The 2010 and 2012 conferences in the Gothenburg series, and the 2011 World Maritime Rescue Congress in Shanghai, China, helped to highlight and address many of these challenges.
