Auxiliarist Raymond Birnbaum is Coast Guard Diversity Champion of the Week

Congratulations to Auxiliarist Raymond Birnbaum, the U.S. Coast Guard Office of Diversity CG-12B Diversity Champion of the Week for 9 January 2012! The Coast Guard Diversity Champion distinction is bestowed upon individuals or units who have made significant contributions in support of the Commandant's Diversity Strategic Plan and OPTASK Diversity.

Auxiliarist Raymond Birnbaum, of Flotilla 78, Cos Cob, Connecticut, Division 7, 1st Coast Guard District Southern Region, is recognized for his dedication and extensive outreach efforts in support of the Coast Guard Compass outreach program. Displaying the fervent volunteer spirit of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Auxiliarist Birnbaum has conducted numerous outreach events throughout Connecticut highlighting the numerous career and educational opportunities available in the Coast Guard. Through his dedicated efforts Auxiliarist Birnbaum reached out to over 200 members of the public at events such as the Connecticut Boat Show, Aircraft Owner & Pilots Conference, Sea Cadet Career Night, and a local college fair. Auxiliarist Birnbaum embraces every opportunity to promote the Coast Guard and remains one of the most active members of the Compass program.

Auxiliarist Birnbaum's leadership, and devotion to duty are exemplary and serve as a great example of the positive impact a small group can have on a community. As a direct result of your efforts and outreach, the Coast Guard is making strides toward achieving the vision set out in the Diversity Strategic Plan.
